The value of US Treasury securities held by Chinese investors rose to USD 1.063tn in November 2020, up from USD 1.054tn in the previous month, the first increase in six months.
However, the trend over the past three years was downward in general, starting from mid-2018 when the trade tensions between the US and China escalated. As of November 2020, China remained the second-largest holder of US Treasury securities after Japan.
