Brazil’s unemployment rate declined to 14.1% of the country’s labour force in Q2, compared to 14.7% recorded in Q1.
The number of jobless stood at 14.4mn in Q2, around 360,000 less than in Q1, but 1.6mn more than in June 2020, as the country’s labour market still struggles to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. The average real income fell by 6.6% y/y in June to BRL 2,515 per month (equivalent to USD 486).
