The current account surplus in China decreased to USD 24.4bn in June 2020, according to the data published by the State Administration of Foreign Exchange. The current account surplus showed substantial recovery in May and June before it declined to USD 13.8bn in March.

However, due to the increase in imports of goods and the slight decrease in the exports of goods the net current account decreased by USD 25.3mn in June. The services current account deficit also increased in June to USD 10.4bn from USD 9.9bn in the previous month mainly due to the increase in the current account deficit of the transportation sector, which also contributed to the total current account surplus decline.
