Foreign direct investment in Brazil increased in March 2020 to USD 7.6bn, from USD 4.8bn in March 2019, supported by the flow of resources from Brazilian companies abroad to their headquarters in Brazil, which more than doubled to USD 4.4bn in March 2020 from USD 2bn in March 2019.

Investments in equity capital fell to USD 2.3bn in March 2020, from USD 4.7bn in March 2019, due to the decreased earnings reinvested in Brazil.

Brazil’s FDIs have been on an upward path since the beginning of the year, staying at USD 5.6bn in January and at USD 6bn in February 2020.
