The Brazilian Central Bank’s economic activity index climbed 0.35% m/m in February, seasonally adjusted, after three consecutive monthly declines. The index reached 139.67, almost as high as the October figure, which was a 5-year high.

Back in October 2019, the long-awaited pension reform was approved, improving the prospects for stabilization in the government expenditures. The February figure suggests that Brazil’s economic activity was improving, just as it was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.
